Here is the first 6000 listed on Ebay after the announced $199 deal.

It'll be interesting to note how long it takes people to know about the $199 deal.

Over the past month, prices have generally fallen from the upper/mid $500s to the mid/upper $400s now.

At least dust the top off of the unit before taking a picture... :p

Good idea for a thread.

I sold mine last month for $550. This morning one just sold for that same amount. Of course, like mine, it had both the 8VSB and 8PSK modules.

It will be very interesting to see what happens but the prices may not decrease all that much because the hackers will want to remain anonymous to Dish or their retailers.

Noone has bid yet! Since the new deal probably doesnt include an 8VSB, a new 6000 with both modules now retails for about $350 so eBay price should be in the 200s now...

But this does keep the value of the 8VSB modules high...

I sold my 6000 with 8vsb and 8psk in early August for $561. It's sort of sucked since then not having HD, but my God, for only $37 more I'll have a new 6000 AND a new 811. If the 811 can be had with an incentive package (I bet it'll be offered to current subs for way less than the $399) I'll be very happy I dumped the othe 6000.

I liked the 6000 and never had a problem with it. It will be welcome back in my house. If it comes with the 8VSB :)

I doubt they will offer any deals on the 811 or 921 for existing subs other than SuperDish is free with a commitment.

They may offer a 5000/HD module trade in again since it has been made obsolete. But the 6000 is still actively supported so I doubt they will offer any deals... just give you a new switch free or legacy adapter free. "Superdish install with all eqpt needed FREE with 1yr commitment blah blah..."

Their major issue is they want to convert people to SuperDish so they can sell more programming, get more local markets, and stay ahead of cable in HD offerings.

Wasn't Dish Depot offering $250 for the "6000 trade in" as part of the 921 pre order? As I recall $250 seemed a little low at the time. Looks pretty good right now.

Right, the goal is to sell more programming. I suppose having the Super Dish included with the 811 for $399 is an incentive. But selling (discounting) an 811 with an increased subscription is also an incentive, for them and me.

"Give me a deal on the 811 and I'll buy HD from you". They seem to accommodate these people.

Update...

$396.51 with one day to go on auction 32845.

With the current revelations in 6000 pricing and included modules (for some) I can't believe these things are still getting bids north of $400. Some people must not read internet forums.

My 6000 w/8vsb-8psk sold on eBay for $475.00 3 days before the $199.00 price was announced. Timing is everything.

do not forget that even though 811 is on the horizon...
As far as E-bay maybe concerned, 811 = intergraded card.. (isn't it - so cardless), where 6000 = working card slot and a card :)

Dish 6000 receivers still selling on E-Bay for over $500. One just closed yesterday at $525. Looks like the hackers just can't get enough of them.

The 6000 and 6000u will retain some value. Mostly because they won't down-rez flagged content. Not an issue now, but it will be. If it's between paying an extra couple hundred for an STB that doesn't do it, or replacing my $5000 HD video projector because it's DVI ports aren't HDCP, I'll take the STB.

I'd be interesting to see someone buy one of the discounted 6000s (with no commitment if they could), and then sell it as still in box refurbished (or new if you can tell).

Uh, I think you'll find there WILL be an offer/discount for current subs (6000, and probably 5000). Next month or sooner will bring interesting details.

Just an FYI, currently the 6000s are going for 350-400, some even more.

Hell, even broken 6000s are bringing more than I paid for my new one!!!

Yea I'm thinking about selling my 6000 and my 721 when the 921 comes out. If I can get 400 each I might be able to justify a 921.
