I've got a question regarding DISH Network's upcoming HD package. Until it expands, the package is going to be presented on channel 110. To my novice reasoning, that seems like an awful lot of HD programming to stuff onto one channel slot. Are all of those programs going to be broadcast in true HD quality, either 720p or 1080i? Or will these be milked down until the superdish becomes available in October?

I thought I might have heard that DISH launched an HD satellite just for expanding their channel lineup. I'm probably connecting threads that don't exist, but if that's true, maybe 110 can be turned into a powerful HD channel that will give full HD-quality broadcasting. I probably don't have the slightest idea of what I'm talking about, but if anyone can tell me about HD on 110, I'd appreciate it.

Hi Allen,

The HD pak will originate from the 110 orbital satellite location, not on one specific channel.

Is there a basic tutorial on the different satellite locations and types of programming on the locations? What would be really great is a history of the company's bigger moves, both technology and marketing.

In total there is enough room in the 110 slot for dozens of HD channels. But you'd have to ditch all of the SD channels to pull it off. I'm sure that all 4 of the New HD channels will be transmitted in their full glory. ESPN-HD will be 720p, and the others are 1080i.
