View Full Version : DirecTV and "Moving"
Currently, I have "moved" to another (My Parents) and tel# to avoid Pegasus. I would like to jump in on the FFDVR deal and hook to use the TIVO. However, I am concerned about the DVR having to be hooked up to the phone line.
1. Could I purchase it an hook it up to a phone line other than my service address ?
2. Could my service address phone number be changed while maintaining the same physical address on the account ?
3. Could I purchase it and leave it unplugged from the phone line ?
What should I do ?
You have more of a problem than you realize. For the FFDVR upgrade Directv will not ship you the DVR they deliver the DVR with their installer who activates the system before leaving it. You must have it delivered to your address of record.

I can overcome this by simply showing up a day before the installer and connecting my boxes. The old mans on cable now and his old Dish setup is still on the roof. I could have the whole show up and running in about 20 minutes. Then, it would be a simple matter of taking the equipment down after the installer leaves.
The real problem is what happens when I take it to another location and plug it into a phone line other than the "service address" ?

If this is all that concerns you, you have nothing to worry about. Directv does not cross-reference area codes & zip codes against each other.
