So will the official internet shorthand be V*? I've seen a few people already refer to it as V*. :D Great news to see Rainbow still going strong with their DBS effort, only time will tell how it compares to E* and D* in programming, monthly costs and hardware selection, but hopefully they can get a decent service going. I wonder if this means no more E* at Sears?

Must be a simple switch for sears.. change LNB and put the new V* receiver in.. I noticed most Sears demoing E* 's Demo channel when ive been in there on their HD sets.

$795 for setup and equipment seems kind of high to me. But I do like a lot of their exclusive HD channels. :) Hmmm, I wonder if they can use my Dish 61.5 Dish after I get my SuperDish installed. :D

I don't know. Those HD channels look pretty cheesy. I'm betting that I would find myself ignoring most of those channels once the Wow factor wore off. I'm afraid that this might be an example of Great Satellite technology partnered with a Cable Company mentality.
A 24/7 Monster Movie channel? I mean how long can that hold an audience?
I'm afraid that they are going to capture the HDTV spotlight, and then bore the heck out of everyone.
Looks like it is designed to supplement their existing cable broadcasting. Sort of another HITS concept for cable company usage to add to their HDTV capability.

I agree, however it does seam like it would supplement D* and E* programing too. In some ways this is a good move on V*'s part, I do not think they would have any chance at all to survive by taking on D* and E* with the same channel line up, by going the "do are own channels" route, increases their chances of survival some, however in the end I suspect they will sell out to E* or possibly D*. I too think many of these channels seam very cheesy.

Interesting....some of those channels seem like good 'demo' stuff, or ones that would be good just to have on and not really pay attention to. Although I think we can get too specific with some of these channels:
HD Rush - Fast moving action sports....maybe..as long as they do sports that aren't Mountain Dew oriented
HD Gallery -- this could be cool, or it could be 'public tv'
HD Animania -- as long as it's truly 'all sorts', I'm in...don't make it a clone of Cartoon Network or Kids WB
HD Cinema 10 -- depends on the movie choices....the HDNet packages aren't that tempting to me, because most of the movies I've seen on there are stuff I have absolutely no interest in seeing
HD Monsters --actually this isn't as specific as it sounds, if they open it to 'horror, thrillers, and sci-fi.' I could get into this one.
HD Treasure --- mm, no thanks.
749 to start, 40/month for the above, 30/month for 'regular' digital cable channels, 15/each for the 'optional programming packs.' Sounds neat, but definitely not cheap.

Sounds good to me though, but the price is :nono2:
· HD Treasure - Stories of collectors and their eclectic tastes. Including the option to bid on items through silent auctions online and real time bidding.
Anyone know what the monthly service fee is?

I read it's free until March with a money back guarantee on the hardware.
