Probably not new, but sure saved my TV enjoyment tonight.
Had a bit of wind over the last few days. Sat down tonight for a bit of relaxation in front of the TV and all I got was pixelation.
So I borrowed the battery operated baby monitor for a few minutes. Set the transmitter next to TV speakers and went to the dish pointing menu. Nice how the tones change pitch with different signal levels.
Go outside to the dish and while listening to the baby monitor receiver, tap the dish a bit until the tone gets higher. Go back inside and I have gained over 10 points on the scale.
I will have to do a proper alignment when it is light out, and not raining, but that little monitor sure saved my bacon tonight.

You should sell these. I'm sure someone on the internet would buy them. :D
I used to use the baby monitor to listen to the tv when I would go outside to smoke. I would watch through the window. My wife hated me doing that but she hated me smoking in the house more.

I'm telling you, you have to sell these DBS monitors. Heck throw a DBSTalk logo on it and you'll sell millions! ;)

Ha! The fellow who installed my Dish 500 used a baby monitor. It works great.

FRS radios work great for this also - as long as there are two people - one to aim, one to pass the reports.. Cell phones also work...

Boy! I sure can relate to that!
That's one of the many, many, many reasons (did I say 'many') I have chosen to live in peaceful solitude. After two ex-wives and an ex-live-in girlfriend, my chosen lifestyle is one that affords me virtually infinite choices, without compromise.

You too can now have your own DBSTalk DBS Monitor. Saves you time and effort while you aim your dish.

I set my portable landline phone on the TV and use my cell phone. :)

I have investigated, on a whim, the cost of installing a low-power (<2 Watts) FM stereo transmitter, but the price was a bit too high.

Have you tried beano? I'm sorry I couldn't resist being my first post and all.
I use an old 7" Apple monochrome monitor with composit input. Just use one of the coax with rca adoptors, hook it to the receiver and wel la, a monitor right at the dish. You can really fine tune that way.

I use the FRS radios (long range walkie-talkies) all the time for tuning in a satellite signal so that I know the receiver itself is receiving a signal along with my signal meter. I use the VOX feature that has automatic voice detection to where you do not need someone to hold the press to talk button the whole time.
