This may be the time to get off the fence and buy the 6000.
I called this morning to get the 6000 for $199. The CSR informed me that my account had been tagged as Exclusive Customer. Due to my past record with Dish Network, which includes years as a subscriber (6+) and level of programming (minimum of AT 100) I could get the 6000 for $149. That's right $149.
It gets better. The 8VSB OTA tuner module. With a years payment for the HD pack, the 8VSB is FREE!!! For 109.89 I get the module AND HD programming for a year. They do have the option to sign up for HD and may monthly and get the module for $99. Regular MSRP is $149.
So to sum up, if you have been a regular Dish customer for a heck of a long time, you can get the 6000 plus both modules plus one year's HD programming for the whopping sum of $258.89.
Get off the fence and get the HD!!! There is no cheaper way to get it.
Got the same deal but it is the 8PSK module that comes with it not the 8VSB, even called them back to verify.

I got mine also :)
If it comes with an 8VSB, or not I can't complain since it sure as hell beats spending $499 :)

from reading other posts all over the place it is starting to seem that purchasing 1 year of HD up front may be the key to getting the 8VSB for free. Now that I think back on it, the point where they said "$9.98 per month for HD" and then I said "sign me for a year" seems to be what solidified it.
But again, we'll see...
I just checked with DISH and the 6000 offer is for $199 without the 8VSB module. The 8VSB module adds $149 making it $349 if you commit to a year's programming.
These are remanufactured units that have been around for a couple of years.
The 811 has been promised within six weeks. It has both modules built in, and a DVI connection for a suggested retail of $399. Based on past history, the actual cost to acquire will be less with the promos and bundling.
I'm not going to pay those kind of prices to help Charlie clear out his basement. He should be giving that stuff away at prices significantly below what it will cost for people to acquire the 811 units.
How will people that buy the 6000 at $349 feel when the new 811s are promoted at $299?
The only question I have now is whether to wait on the 811 or bail on DISH altogether.

Same deal here but I got both modules. I asked them twice to verify it.

hope you got 'em..
But sometimes more reliable to just wait and see what they'd send you,... what comes to your door :)
Good deal anyhow...

Yea I agree, just because they said so doesn't mean that its the truth. Doesn't really matter anyway since there aren't even any locals where I live let alone HD locals.

Well if someone did that then they are a fool even if the 811 doesn't go promo price for $299.
The $258 price someone quoted for a 6000 with both modules and a year of HD pack is excellent and if I had an HDTV and wanted an HD receiver and was an exclusive customer then I would definately do that.

The CSR informed me that my account had been tagged as Exclusive Customer.
Is this like double secret probation?? If Dish has customers that they really value, then why aren't THEY contacting these great customers and letting them know about deals they are eligible for. If your account is tagged, then they could simply shoot you an e-mail saying "call us for special deals for our special customers." It is a load of crap if you have to "stumble" upon your exclusive status.

At least they pay attention to customer history.

The part that I am wonderng about is, what exactly makes your account eligible for the special offer?
From what I've read I think I would probably be eligible for the special pricing. I wonder if you get taken off of the list after you become subsidized by dish, i.e. take the special offer?
That concern as well as no mention of how these 6000 consumers will get the SuperDish has caused me to wait for the 921 or 811.

The Superdish will come with my 811. My plan will be complete. A two HD tuner household, complete with Superdish, switches.. etc. for less than what I sold my 6000 for 1 1/2 months ago. Sweet...

First of all they are looking for 3 things....
#1 Non-Pay Disconnects. Dishnetwork absolutly hates customers who constantly don't pay their bill ontime and have their service termintated for Non-Pay. If you just simply forgot to pay your bill, but immediatly paid it a few hours later no problem. This mostly applies to customers who are constantly late on payments and the ones who take 2-4 weeks to restore service after its disconnected.
#2 Seniority. The longer you have been a customer, the better.
#3 Programming. If your only spending $24.99/mo, don't expect any special deals. These offers are being given to customers spending $50/$60 or more per month!
