This is total speculation but I think one of the DBS companies will experement with HD locals in the next 5 years. Of course they will be compressed more than what we have now (maybe 3 8PSK locals per transponder instead of 2 8PSK nationals that we have now on DISH). I'm pretty sure that if they wanted to they could get 3 8PSK HD channels onto a transponder, it would just look kinda crappy.
