Here's what I want to do...will it work?

I see the deal on the 6000 but I'm at least 2 yrs away from an HD set. I'd like to get the 6000 with the OTA tuner and hook it up to my Sony Big Screen through the compenent inputs on the back of the set. Will I get a downconverted HD signal from the OTA channels? Will I get downconverted ESPN HD etc...or should I wait my 2 years and hope for some special deal when I'm fully ready?

The component output on the 6000 is only capable of 720p or 1080I. The 6000 will down-convert HD programming to 480I, but only on the S-Video or composite video outputs. If you are 2 years away from an HDTV set, I would wait a see which receiver is available then. The cost is bound to come down
