View Full Version : Closed Caption
Is there a problem with closed caption with the basic receiver or with dvr? Unfortunately I need that function, the ears aren't what they used to be.

I haven't ever had a problem with closed caption with any of my D* receivers. Not all programs have closed captioning available.
Three years of working on a F-16 flightline so I understand your dilema. :)

There is a problem with CC on DirecTiVos. The CC text shows up ahead of the on-screen action and is sometimes garbled.
This has been known by Directv for a long time. Why they haven't fixed it is anyone's guess.

Is this problem unique to you or are many users having the problem, do you know?

It happens to me also. The garbled CC rarely happens tho'.
One other thing it does is leave off the last letter of the last word in a sentence.
Then that last letter will appear just before the next sentence appears.
It's a nuisance, but beats straining to hear and understand the sound especially when so many actors today like to mumble. Not to mention movies from England and Ireland. :)

OUch!!! Still a Brit, so please be kind, we mean well. Actually the accents are really no worse than a few I've heard locally.
CC is also good when the music is so d--- loud you can't hear the dialogue. Thanks for the input.
