301s S/W versions - Wow!!??

Well suspense and surprises around latest 301s software continue...

according to Dish's software upgrade page: http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/customerCare/technical/software_versions/index.asp

301:

P2.10, 8/12/2003, P1.89, 3/12/2003,
P2.00, 9/18/2003, P1.84, 9/3/2003,
P1.83, 8/13/2003, P1.82, 3/13/2003


Which could be interpreted several ways... - but from the quick look/observation at it - looks like 1.84 is maybe "the fade out" now or tests are over for p1.84 or it is a thing of the past, and some p2.00 being tested now or something like that as of 9/18/2003 (be it for 301.013s or for 301.010s or for both) :)

I have had my 2 301's for approx 18 months and it seems like I remember somewhere in the past that on a software update my software version went from a higher version # to a lower #, maybe wrong but don't think there is any consistency of how the numbers flow. It would be nice if Dish would let owners whats going on.

DISH really needs to fix this on their web site. They need to have separate lines for the 301-010 and the 301-013 (and explain to users how to tell which one thay have). All the confusion does is generate calls to some poor CSR who usually doesn't have an answer.

I agree. Please post major changes to software as well. I realize they can't tell us everything, but most of what they can't tell us we don't really care about anyway. All of us techies like ohhin' and ahhin' at all the small additions.

I didn't know that the 311 was shipping. Have any of the dealers seen one yet?

maybe they are just doing Internal "testing" there over at Dish...
and Meanwhile they decided to indicate 311 with it's p250 software version at that software upgrade page (just for statistical purposes, if not for anything else) :)

How many people out there know that they can now press # on their 301s to see upcoming showtimes for the selected show (which, if I may, has turned the 301 into an absolute joy to use.)

I certainly wouldn't have known if I didn't come here frequently.

Dish needs to get the word out more on the updates. They need a Customer Info channel which is actually updated every month, like D* 201. Charlie chats don't serve that purpose, and 'Remote Control Help' certainly doesn't.

Yes it is.

Select a show in the EPG or browse banner, then press # and it will display a search screen with the program name already entered.

Perhaps they are making some of the 301's software upgradable to a 311 just like the 3800's were software upgradable to a 3900, given they have enough memory to do so.

Either that or certain people have the 311's with beta software testing it out before it will be released in which is more likely I would think.
