And he has US to thank!
I wonder sometimes if that money is burning a hole in his pocket.
Chris, Just wondering but has there ever been a poll on how much is your satellite bill?
I think I might win that one!

I think I might win that one! I think there was but it's probably very outdated. I've started another one here:

Good idea for a poll!

Horray! for Charlie. It must be great to make a good living on the satellite industry. He da King of the hill. I still wonder why he would sell a company that makes him this wealthy. (Not saying that he would sell) Its just that you always hear that E* is ripe to be bought up by some Media Giant.

And still people on the web will call him an idiot. He's laughing all the way to the bank. If all the unhappy subscribers in the forums want to drop E*, he's really not going to even notice, now, is he?

Charlie's the man!! :icon_cool
Looks like if Sam Walton were still alive he'd be #1 - Waltons have a 5-way tie for 4th place, sum them and you get 102.5B.
Yea Charlie... you 'da man and I'm sorry for anything I ever said bad about your company. I've been a loyal customer since 1996. Can we be pals? :joy:

The great thing about Charlie is that he is totally self made. He started out selling BUD's (Big Ugly Dishes) off the back of a trailer. He saw that the future was mass distribution of this hardware and became the largest manufacturer/distributor of c-band systems in the country. He was one of the first to apply for a DBS slot in the sky. While waiting for the launch of his first satellite he became the largest distributor of DirecTv equipment, covering a very large portion of the western US and selling to his already established independent dealer collection. His motto, "A Dish on Every House" just may happen sometime in the future.
My cousins used to kick around with him when he was a youngster and went to high school with him in Oak Ridge, Tn. I guess he was rather driven and competitive, even back then, but who would have guessed.
Congrats to Charlie.

His motto, "A Dish on Every House" just may happen sometime in the future. Check your old brochures and you'll see his actual old somewhat grammatically transposed motto is what I use as a signature.
I always found it amusing since I've never been in a home without at least a few dishes but I've never seen a dbs antenna in one!
