Does anyone have any idea if one can link up with any of the E* Satellites from the UK. I'm thinking of moving to Scotland and quite frankly, British TV sucks.
I'm not concerned with the legal issues or anything like that. I just want to know if I'd have line-of-sight and if it's within the satellite broadcast range.
Thanks.
Well if people in Canada and Central & South America have trouble picking up E* with in some cases with very large dishes I would have to say no the UK is way outside the footprint. BTW I am no expert just relaying what I have read in other threads if I am wrong I am sure some one will mention it.
You can't pick up sats aimed at North America from Europe.
Legally, you might want to try News Corp's Sky service. On the grey side (legal if you are in the military or are on certain other duties for the US government) you can get Armed Forces TV, which has the best of US networks and sports. Any soldier living on base (where they get it OTA) will be glad to let you authorize a receiver in his name.

Even though I live in USA, I think British TV is quite good. It would be cool if we could get BBC1 and ITV1 here.
Oh tell me about it.
I WISH we could get BBC 1,2,3,4 and ITV here.
I have to settle for drips and drabs on BBCA :(
On the good side, the BBC did say that they are oging to offer their entire library of television shows and movies available for FREE viewing on the internet. No date given for when this will happen..

That is so cool I remeber when I lived in germany in the early 80's The U.S. miliatary communities had one TV station and one radio station. The radio was 24 hrs but the tv was 0900 to 2300 daily. The first time we where there in 70-74 it was one channel and it was only Black & White. Quite an advancement here is cool link to AFRTS.

That would have definitly been a plus to living over there. that and the bratwurst.
It would have been a GREAT improvement.
We lived on video rentals when I lived at Hahn AB, except when watching Tutti Frutti...
Where were you in Germany?

My dads first tour was 70-74 in Hoenfels and then again in Wuerzburg from 79-82.
Silly as it may sound times were very diffrent.
i know what you mean. i was in germany from 88 to 91
things were tuff socially as an american but i was able to speak german, unlike most of the folks on base, and the re-unification came....
now i understand things are even wierder.
i loved my time there tho, miss it a bit and can't wait to go back with my family.
i went to wuerzburg at some point. i spent most of my time exploring the Hunsruck and the schwartzwald.
