I'm scheduled to have my 6000u receiver installed with the 8vsb module later today. I would like to get all the reception issues resolved while the tech is out to do the install.

I used to have an antenna set up in my attic. The wiring is still in place but the antenna is long gone. Does anyone have any recommendations for an antenna that would work well for me?

I live within two to three miles of all the local stations, but they are all in different directions.

Any other hardwar I should get with the antenna to facilitate hookup?

Thanks,

Ed Mc

Hi Ed,

First thing that might help you is to visit this site:

http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/address.asp

When you enter your address, it will give you info about your reception possibilities and the antenna you may need. Also, be sure to click on the "Street Level Map" button.

If you live only 2 or 3 miles from your local stations, you might be able to get away with an omni-directional antenna in the attic but for best digital reception, a regular directional antenna with a rotator is your best bet to avoid multi-path problems. Try the omni first though to see if that works.

If you're that close, practically anything will work - I'd suggest a small or meduim multidirectional antenna, like maybe one of those that looks like a flying saucer.

Go to: http://www.titantv.com/
Register (free)
input your address, see whats broadcasting.
look for antenna selector link and see what comes back from the form you submit. it will tell you what direction to point your antenna and along with some reccomendations.

Hey guys! Thanks for the info on the antenna selector sites.

The site at Titan TV shows a variety of different antennas, and shows how well they will work in acquiring signals from channels you are interested in watching, as well as all other area channels.

Based on that info, ti appears all I need is a coat hanger with two wires!!!

Thanks

If all of your stations are UHF, then you can get a UHF Only antenna from Radio Shack for only about $25 that is small enough to fit in your attic. Match that up with a RS 15-1171 Digital Amp and you'll be all set.
