Can you overeride name based recording for specific events, (essentially forcing the Tivo DVR to time based)? For instance on sporting events how do you insure the entire event gets recorded if it goes beyond it's allotted time?
Thanks in advance.

After you schedule the recording, you can edit it in your to do list and there is a setting where you can add minutes (don't know if there's a limit) both to the beggining and to the end of the recording...

If you want to manually set-up a single recording, just go to "Record by Time and Channel". Follow the menu prompts and make the recording as long as you like up to 24 hours (I think  ).
If you want to pad every recording as part of a Season Pass (I do this with NASCAR races), just set-up the SP as normal. Under the options, you can pad every recording by 1 minute to 3 hours at the end, and start it up to 30 minutes early (I think, I don't pad the start of any SP's).

Yes, as described above you setup a "Manual" recording. Some shows with bad guide data actually need this. If you setup a season pass to sportscenter, even with first run only, it will try to record every showing all day because ESPN doesn't give it good guide data.
So you can setup a manual recording for M-F from 8:00am-8:30am for example. Just like the old VCR. :)
Yes.
I like to have mine record the 11 pm local news every night. Unfortunately, they keep changing the name from "channel 7 news at 11pm" to "channel 7 news" (which is every news show during the day) and the weekends don't have the 11pm distinguishing name in them.
So to fix it, I just set up a manual override by time and channel. Works just fine, just like a season pass.

Oh yea, and the manual recording shows up in your season pass manager as a "repeating manual recording" and it treats it just like a season pass for recording priority and such. Think of it as a season pass based on time, not name.
