trouble schedulng from EPG

Lately I have been having a problem with my Dish PVR-508. When I try to "create" a timer recording from the program guide, the 508 ignores the command and acts as if I hit "cancel". With CSI:Miami chosen for Monday nite, I click select, and instead of bringing me to the create a timer screen, the guide just disappers and I am watching current programming. I seem to have better luck from the "all channels" or "all sub" guide than a more personal one. I done plug/unplug--it helped. I havent frelled with the smart card. Not yet anyway. Any ideas??/

this same thing happens to me.sometimes i try hitting the record button and sometimes it will work. i have also kept doing it the same way you did untill it works when it does work it usually keeps working till the next time i turn receiver off.

Have you rebooted and did it help?

Stupid question, were you trying to set up a timer when the show was already on? That is the way it is supposed to act if you hit on the guide of a show that is already playing in its time zone. You could have set up a timer for CSI miami if you had went ahead to next Monday and selected the timer .
