Santa Monica, CA (Sept. 23) -- Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and HDNet, the High-Definition TV network, has purchased Landmark Theaters, according to sources.
The deal will give Cuban and his partner, Todd Wagner, control of 55 art house theaters across the country. Wagner will serve as CEO of the theater chain.
In addition, I predict that Cuban will soon launch an HDTV film production studio -- and show high-def films in Landmark and other theaters. After the films run in theaters, Cuban will then show them exclusively on HDNet and HDNet Movies, his two HD channels.
