** Disclaimer - The information below was received from an inside source at Echostar. Please treat it as speculation until proven by official sources. **

I've received an unconfirmed report from an inside source at Echostar that the 811 HDTV receiver is due to be released "in 30 days". My source tells me that full development concentration has been placed on the 811, and some resources are working "nearly around the clock" to get the receiver completed and out the door.

If I hear anything further, I will let you know!

Scott's site posted this information the other day, so I don't see how this is news.

And from what I understand Scott just might be playing with an 811 as I type this.

How about some real news like when are the new new hd channels coming, or whens the new porn channel coming.

Please send me a link to the post... I looked out there before I posted to make sure I wasn't re-posting old information.

My company had a training session on Tuesday with our DISH Network Rep. He insinuated that there might be a delay in the 811 and that the 921 will come out first. I hope not. They really need to get the 811 out quickly.

My source was an engineer that was doing direct work on the project, and he said he was pulled from another project to get the 811 finished. [Speculation on] It seems they want to go to market quickly with the 811/HDTV/superdish combo, and 30 days gets them out there in time for Christmas sales. Smart move on their part in my opinion, because the bundle seems to be priced well. [Speculation off]

I can't blame Dish for wanting to get this product out asap, particularly with the VOOM coming to Sears in October, and next-generation DirecTV HDTV set-top boxes (with simultaneous SD output, 7-day 16:9 guide, etc) coming to retailers in October and November.

speaking of VOOM someone has to have more information on this service. There is no way it can launch next tuesday with no package, channel, equipment, pricing information whatsoever.

newsub,

speaking of VOOM someone has to have more information on this service. There is no way it can launch next tuesday with no package, channel, equipment, pricing information whatsoever. They are planning for an early to mid October launch, with 28-30 HD channels, of which 21 will be their so-called "exclusive channels." The rest will be stuff like ESPN-HD, HBO-HD, Showtime HD, Discovery Theater, InHD, InHD2, etc. Sears locations have evidently begun receiving their demo equipment for VOOM now; there is news on it being reported on some other forums.

The initial cost will be $49 for the startup kit and $700 for the receiver, which includes professional installation of both the satellite dish and an OTA antenna. Through January 31, 40+ SD channels, 18 music channels, and 21 "exclusive" HD channels will be $39.90/mo; the customer will also receive their choice of HDTV "Plus Pack" (like HBOs with HBO-HD?). Some are reporting that the 40+ SD and "exclusive" HD channels will be sold separately beginning February.

Sounds like a cable companie to me. Any news on what sd channels they will sell to try to compete with dish, directv and themselves? What will the music channels be?

[QUOTE] And tomorrow I will play with a 811

Scott -
Can you advise if you get side bars when looking SD programs using the 811 HD out put port (e.g. component/ DVI) or does the 811 using the HD port expend the SD channels to full the 16:9 screen. The 6000 does not.

It will help me figure out what wires I will need to run between the 811 and the HD set and make the install go smoother.

Thank you

The 6000 does not.The 6000 does offer aspect mode options. Be sure to hit the star (*) button on the remote to cycle through the various display modes.

I've also confirmed: You must buy the bundle - 811, Superdish & HDTV.
Then after a 30 day window you can purchase individually.

I suppose will have some make shift Superdish's for awhile.

Where did you confirm this?

At the Team Summit today they said receivers and systems will both be available starting on November 1st.

Nothing about bundle only system being available then 30 days later the 811 being available.

I did hear that all the new receivers will be in limited quantity at first.

Enjoy!

This perhaps is the limited quanity.
I first confirmed thru a dish retailer.
I then confirmed with DISH, thru one of their sales/warehouse locations.
By passed Colorado, for results.

Scott, why don't you bend someone's ear at Dish and tell them we NEED a firewire out in a low cost machine like the 811. It totally sucks that they removed it. Not everyone who has HD can afford a 911.

Cyclone

How can anyone say that they removed it? The 811 hasn't even shipped yet. It hasn't even been there to have been removed.

It was only rumored to have been there. It was also rumored to not have a UHF remote too. I'm glad that one was wrong.
