hehe - I do not even have a HD, so others in my "shoes" might have another opinion on that matter :)
Besides - did you, personally, get your Locals up? - LOL - if so think of others...
In any case with all those new Satellite launches - they should have plenny of room for HD available :)
John - i see Memphis locals spread all over :)
Most of the existing HD is at 105 or will be shortly. Then they can add new HD.

Hey thanks Darkman! You got them all right I'm not real sure what WMAV is, apparently a Educational channel out of Mississippi.
I don't know what that all means that they are all spread out, I'm just happy they are out there.

I agree, Birmingham locals are not so good... and neither are the east or west coast or Denver.
More and more local OTA networks are going digital on a monthly basis. Some of the Dish customers that can't get a really good OTA signal will be able to get a better picture once their OTA locals go digital so there should be less need for Dish locals. However, I do realize there are some that are so remote that they may never get a good signal and will want Dish locals.
BTW.... ROLL TIDE!

peallen - spread out means - they are - some channels are at 110 satellite at Spot beam transponders, others at 110 ConUS transponders, and others are at 61.5 satellite....
So they are "all over the place" :)
BTW - that 7172 - WMAV, i think it is on 110 ConUS transponder...

They need all the help they can get!!
Green Bay & Milwaukee, WI locals on Dish Network have been promised for so long? Many customers are switching to Directv, because they are sick of waiting. Will this ever happen with Superdish by end of 2003, like is promised now?
LAM, both are testing at 105 now.
They been testing on 110 for months and nothing happens.
Now our Dish 500 will have to all be changed to get 105 on the Super Dish.

I would not hold your breath waiting for them.
I live in the Milwaukee market and understand your frustration. Every few weeks we get some sort of call or flyer from a local DirecTV installer advertising that they have my local channels.
I have had success with getting waivers for ABC and CBS. I got a waiver from the local ABC station on the first try, however, it took three requests to get a waiver from the local CBS station. The waiver from the CBS staion came through a couple of weeks ago.
I also get national PBS.
I would recommend applying for a waiver and seeing what happens (However, the local station may deny them if they know the locals will appear on Dish in the near future).

The channel listed as WMAV in the Memphis locals is actually WMPN out of Jackson. It's just a mirror since WMAV is a repeater of WMPN. So this channel is not taking up any additional space.
See ya
