Things in that article that make me call "bull$hit" -

- "Pacific Crest Securities analyst Jeff Governman said he believes it is possible News Corp. could jettison TiVo in favor of its current properties should its acquire Hughes."
Analyst = clueless moron. If analysts had to be correct to keep their jobs, none of them would be employed.

- "Mr. Governman suggested TiVo's technology isn't up to par with the changing cable landscape and that News Corp. "is planning to use its successes with BSkyB and Sky Italia for its future efforts."
By all other accounts, TiVo makes cable PVRs and Sky's home-grown boxes look pathetic.

- "Mr. Governman doesn't own shares of TiVo, and the firm hasn't performed investment-banking business for the company, according to Mr. Governman's research note."
So this clown admits he really knows nothing, yet his opinion is worth publishing. OOOOOKAYY :nono:

Let's do the math. Rupert likes money + Tivo makes money for Directv + TiVo is already in place + TiVo users are happy customers who don't churn = Rupert is happy with TiVo.

I expect to be replacing my current DirecTiVos with improved DirecTiVos many years from now, long after Chicken Little realizes the sky isn't falling after all :)

Rupert sees Charlie making more $$ than him with DVR fees and no royalty payments to TiVo....

Rupert sees Charlie shipping more DVRs than TiVo...

Rupert does not see many user complaints about Dish DVR software...

Why do you think Tivo should not be worried?

From what I have read, DVR's have not caught on in the UK to the extent they have here in the US. That being said, BskyB's interactive capabilities are greater than those offered here. Might we see the development of boxes with both interactive capabilities AND DVR capabilities? If some useful, appreciated applications of interactivity can be developed for US viewers, who knows where this could lead.

Don't make me laugh Mike.:)

Anyway I read an article about a Tivolike software that directv might try using with no fee. There are too many Tivo unit's out there to not say goodbye to Tivo.
