Hello all,

Subject line says it all: is the new Hughes SD-DVR120 a replacement for the HDVR2, or is it just a different model with a bigger hard drive?

It costs more than a Hughes HDVR2 with a Weaknees upgrade, and way more than doing a hard drive upgrade yourself. I guess that's the factory warranty coming into play.

Samsung has a similar model - the SIR-S4120, which is also more expensive than an upgraded HDVR2.

I guess I'm still eyeing the HDVR2, although all the posts about audio issues are beginning to worry me.

Thanks,

-John

It is just a big brother. Same interface, just a bigger hard drive.

Bigger hard drive, and a different name in order to stop the current problem of people thinking it's a HD-compatible recorder when, in fact, it's a Hughes Digital Video Recorder.

I've ordered the Weakness bracket yesterday. As soon as that arrives, I will be ordering some hard drives.... and cross my fingers.
