If a baseball game were to go 18 innings.would a tivo record the entire game or just record the time alloted for the game in the epg?

No. All PVRs rely on program guide data supplied by Tribune Media or other data sources, and have no way of determining if a game (or the Academy awards) will go beyond the schedule. You can, however, tell Tivo to record beyond the scheduled end time by 1, 2, 5, 15, or 30 minutes as well as 1, 1.5, and 3 hours after the program is scheduled to end. A Dish DVR, however, will need to have the stop time adjusted.
