Hi, hopefully you guys can help me out with this issue i'm having with a new 3x4 non powered multiswitch that I bought yesturday.

I have 3 receivers hooked up to the multiswitch. Problem i'm having is that when i'm watching one of them and all the other recievers are turned off I start getting slight signal loss like some artifacts on screen and sound skipping sometimes it even freezes for a sec or 2.

Now this is the weird part when I turn one of the other recievers on or disconnect the cable coming to the reciever it won't skip or give artifacts on the one that i'm watching.

Do you think this is a bad multiswitch or do I have to add a powered MS or maybe an inline amplifier?

If I do need an inline amplifer do I need 2 for each lnb or one for each reciever?

Thank you

Fill in more information please? What brands and models? How long are cable runs? What dish are you using? What are signal strengths? Is this a replacement Switch?

Check the cable connectors first. If they are loose or corroded, this is the likely culprit.

ok all signal strengths on all the receivers are 96 to 98, 2 RCA 2DRD420RE's and one Hughes HIRD-E1. All Ends on cables are new and are not in an exposed area to the outside. Also the multiswitch clicks every once in a while and is pretty warm. Is that normal?

The only helpful information in your post is the fact the multiswitch is warm. Where are you located and where is your multiswitch located? From the little information I have to go on I would suggest replacing the multiswitch.

well I just replaced the multiswitch and its still doing the same thing. Its as if the hughes reciever is hogging up too much of the signal cause if I start changing channels on it. it will freeze and give the artifacts almost emmediatly when I start changing channels and going through guide menus, and when I stop it goes back to normal on the other tv.

I'm planning on buying an inline amp. Do you know in my particular setup if I need two or 1 or 1 for each reciver and where in the lines do I install them. close to the dish or after the multiswitch to each reciever line?

well got a different brand multiswitch and it fixed the problem. This one is a TREK multiswitch the other one was an RCA $20 more for the TREK but I guess sometimes its better to buy the more expensive. Thanks for the help anyway guy's
