View Full Version : 7200 with SW64 problem
A weird problem. I have a Dishplayer 7200 connected to an SW64 switch getting fed from 2 dishes. The first is pointing at 110 and 119, and the other one is pointing at 61.5. Here is the problem. The receiver when it tries to setup the switch shows that there is a problem with input 1A in the switch which is the first one from 119.
The weird part is that I have another receiver ( a 3800) that has no problem with any of the inputs on the switch. I know that the dishplayer may be faulty but is there a way I can fix this. May be reset it or force an upgrade to the software, maybe something of that sort.
I hope someone would have an idea. I am going crazy over here. Thanks.
Sam,
I have about the same setup (DishPlayer and SW64) except that I have a 721 as my other receiver.
What I would do is swap switch input 1A and 1B and run the switch test. When you have the cables off take a good look at them for problems (corrosion).
The SW64 really doesn't care what satellite slot is on which input so if you do have a switch problem you could put 61.5 on inputs 1A and 1B and put 119 and 110 on the remaining inputs. This will allow you to get most of your channels until you can replace the switch. Be sure that you run the switch test on both receivers after you change cables.
Here is something else you may want to try: The SW64 gets its power (via the power inserter and power supply at the receiver end) via port one (it HAS to be on port one). You might want to move the power inserter and power supply to your 3800 and swap the cables going to the receivers at the switch end (so that the cable going to the 3800 is connected to port one to supply power to the SW64). Sometimes that fixes a port problem on the SW64.
When working with the SW64 it is always a good idea to remove the power supply plug before you swap cables or do other troubleshooting.
Thanks Bill.
I tried your suggestions. Unfortunately I am still having problems. I doubted is was the switch as it is brand spanking new. The good news is that I am starting to find the problem in both receivers which leads me to believe that it is an LNB thing not a receiver or switch.
I have gotten replies from people saying that the 7200 usually finds problems first and then the problems move to the other receivers. I will replace the LNB and hopefully that will fix the problem. Thanks again..
