For years sprots teams and fans have been getting ripped off by cable networks I think teams owning their own networks would be great so long as they dont get greedy and remember the game is about the fans (HINT HINT YES NETWORK)

But at what price? YE$ wanted at least $2 per subscriber, and Dish said No. E$PN is one of the most expensive channels, but it has to be part of any Dish or DirecTV package whether you want it or not. And, I have no idea what other R$N will charge.

I actually tuned into the YE$ network while setting up my DirecTivo in late August. They had paid programming on late at night. Uh, what about "Best of The Yankies" and "Yankees classic games"?

Just go see the games live in person. After all, professional sports teams/owners have worked very hard to keep ticket prices as low as possible, not to mention parking and concessions.

I hope you can tell I am deep into irony here. I really don't think team owners have a very good record of putting the fans first. After all, why do you think the prices for ESPN/Sunday Ticket/etc. cost as much as they do? Owners are milking them for all they can get. I really don't see how you figure teams are getting ripped off by cable companies. Fans yes, teams/owner no.

Their job is to make as much profit as possible for their owners. While there are have been occasional exceptions (Green Bay Packers come to mind), the vast majority of teams care about their fans the way McDonalds cares about folks who buy hamburgers.

That's just the way of business.
