Hi my 6000u seems to stretch the HD channels so you can't even see the channel banner, is there a way to cure this? I tried the adjust image but no dice.

The * (asterick) button on the remote shifts through the various zoom modes. If you're watching a channel such as ESPNHD, their video is always stretched unless it's in HD.

Try pressing the * button on your remote control to toggle through the available aspects. It should say something like "normal, stretch, partial zoom, zoom, gray bars" on the top banner. Keep pressing * until it cycles back to normal.
Also, if you have a 16:9 TV, make sure its not in some kind of "stretch" mode also.
