I remember asking if this new software (L1.15) would restore our (721) screen saver.
Some guy said over and over again that it would...
Said the wait will be well worth it.
People in The Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico can't even access the new weather feature. But guess what...E* can sure as hell access our money through Credit Card Auto Pay.
What is wrong here????????
...either this dude was lied to, or lied to us, or probably wasn't even an E* beta tester at all.
I have the new version now and my picture has been paused for 35 min.
Guess what; NO FRIGIN' SCREEN SAVER!
Who in the hell was that guy who told us that all these great thing would happen if we would just be patient and 'wait'?

That would have been Scott...

Keep in mind that he was testing beta software, and oftentimes, stuff in betas don't make it into the final released product.

I know that the new system supports a "stand-by" mode, and I believe that will activate after 4 hours of you not doing anything. That is "sort of" a system saver, but not exactly what you were looking for.

I kind of wish the screen save function would make a return as well...

We did get new stuff though: weather (with the temporary limitations you mentioned) and triple-conflict screen to name a couple. And I'm sure it included a bunch of bugfixes...

STX Jim - Have you noticed if the new software fixes the problem of having to manually update the 48hour epg?

In all fairness to scott he can only report what he is told and experiences. His info comes from the top and I think its carefully controlled to generate the most hype on the internet.

I have my sources, they arent as good but arent as carefully exploited.

Besides things can change at the last minute and the screen saver leaking into the programming was a serious issue causing many software troubles, I would rather live without a screen saver than be plagued by more bugs.......

Features in beta versions don't always make it into the final version of the code. Just like bugs can creep in between the final beta and the final version (although this one I have a little harder time with...) The screen saver was there, but obviously got taken out at the last minute due to something that cropped up at the end.
