I'm thiniking about getting DSL from our local cable company. Question is, do I diplex their cable to get the connection into the house? I was thinking of having the modem near the TV with a wireless hub so I could use my X-Box online and use the computer in a different room. Will this set-up work? Thanks in advance for any info.

Your totally mixed up here. DSl comes from the "phone" company, not the Cable company.

Well Assuming that you meant the phone company for DSL and that you dont think that DSL comes from a cable line. Yes you could use wireless router for both your XBOX and PC. You would have to have a wireless NIC on the PC and have a another wireless router for the XBOX. As far as I know XBOX does not have a wireless NIC. My suggest however would be to do the install of the DSL line close to either the XBOX or the PC and use an ethernet card for one of them. My gut tells me to have it near the XBOX.
However, I dont know anything about XBOX online gaming so I am not sure what those requirements are and I would check into them before making the move.

I'm sorry you're right. I don't mean DSL I meant high speed internet service through our local cable company. Could I diplex that and not have it interfere with my sattelite signal? My thought was to have the cable modem by the TV hook that to a wireless router with the X-Box conneted to that router. Then use a wireless card for my computer in another room. Will that work?

Yeap. .. that should work.. Check the cable company and make sure they dont have issues with multiple PCs. Some have a policy of single PC per connection and they scan for NAT. I suggest that you read your licensing terms carefully.

The issue will be hooking up the XBox. Ia m unsure what connections it takes and it may want some proprietary MS ISP>
