Our hotel is going to be switching over to satellite TV service, and we were wondering what everyone’s' favorite channels were when the stay at hotels. We will also have ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX, which are separate from the 16 and list below. We would like to have 16 channels from the list below, included at least HBO and/or Showtime. Include any that you, your family, or your spouse expects or watches when you stay at hotels. Thank you for any help!

This is more like the list that I would provide if I owned the motel, not necessarily what I would watch....
A&E - Cartoon Network – CNBC - CNN - Country Music Television (CMT) - C-SPAN - Discovery Channel - Disney Channel – ESPN - Fox News Channel - CNN Headline News – HBO - Nickelodeon - TV Land – The Weather Channel and Galavisión or Univision (select one).
Channels were selected to appeal to a wide audience, not what I would watch. In a hotel people rarely want to get involved in long serious programming, so most channels selected are for programming that people don't have to get deeply involoved in.
By the way, Nick and Nick at Night are one channel

Well I doubt they would be in the room wanting to look at boxing. Basically the ho/motel needs to put on very basic channels appealing to a mass audience as well as some channels for large special markets (kids, sports, etc).
Bare minimum you need one of each: Learning/History, Kids, News, Music, Politics, Sports, Movies, Weather, Mexican, two General channels.
Turner Network Television - General 1
WGN - General 2.
CNN - News.
MTV - Music.
C-SPAN - Politics.
Discovery Channel - Learning, History
ESPN - Sports.
HBO - Movies.
Nickelodeon - Kids
The Weather Channel - Weather
Galavisión or Univision (select one) - Mexican
This leaves you with 5 more slots. News is popular so add in Headline News or Fox News. You could add another Kids: Cartoon Network or Disney. Throw in TBS or Comedy Central for General 3. What the heck, throw in Showtime or HBO 2 for Movies. You could also have BET for some black programming. (since you also have latino programming)

Only channels I personally watch anymore are Fuse, VH-1 Classic, Fox News, Bloomberg, SciFi, ESPN and the networks for the crime dramas. And I try to catch a documentary on the History Channel or one of the Discovery channels on technology or paranormal activities here and there.

SCI FI

TBS
AMC

Wow! I never expected to receive so many posts! Thank you for all of your help!
Every year I go to Milwaukee I stay at a hotel that has Showtime 1, 2 and 3. Those 3 channels make up 20% of the entire lineup!
Here's my choice
ESPN
ESPN2
Local sports network
Comedy Central
Lifetime (yeah women need something)
Food TV
GameShow Network
TNT
MTV 2 (NOT MTV)
CNN
Headline News
HBO
Showtime
Starz
Cinemax
Independent Film Channel
TCM
Fox Movie Channel
and finally...
spanktrovision :)

We also have DVD rentals and players at our hotel. People absolutely love them!

What I think ought to be on a hotel system, in approximate order of importance:
HBO
TBS Superstation (wide variety)
ESPN
Nickelodeon (includes At Nite)
The Weather Channel (travellers need weather updates)
CNN Headline News (quick news catchup any time)
Turner Classic Movies (much better than AMC)
ESPN2
Comedy Central
Cartoon Network
Final six:
TNT
CNN
MTV
Discovery
A&E
F/X
I'd bump any of the last three in favor of WGN, HBO Family, your local regional sports network (FS Midwest?), or your local PBS affiliate, but you didn't mention any of those in your list.
Best wishes!
