View Full Version : Whats up with censorship part 2

Mr Derryberry I think you owe Scott and appology, I am not Scott.

Scott calm down, you have a right to be upset and even a right to sue for his comments, but calling names is not a good thing to do eaither.

Now my question was never answered.

Yesterdays voom launch they had a great amount of information and photos from the event.

Again in order to help other find out additional information I posted a link (which just happened to be at Scotts site, but it could have been a dbs forums or avs, it really don't matter.)

Yet 7 times this link was DELETED with no explanation.

There was no screaming add go visit whoevers site.

So why the censorship?

If people can't feely post GOOD information for others to learn from and enjoy whats the point of even having this site up? Perhaps its time to close down the site if users can not even share information.
I posted my link 7 time

:nono2:

I do appologize to Neil and DBSTalk for my previous post.

I just really HATE being accused of things that I have not done. I was so POed that I had to go outside for a walk.

Again my appologies.

So how come no one wants to answer?

It's not a hard question.

I want to know why 9 of my posts in the last 24 hours were deleted.

They were not ads for any other site, they were just links to information that I am sure some dbs talk users would learn from and enjoy reading.

But POOF these informative posts disapeared into thin air and no one here that runs the place has the nuts to tell me and the rest of the world why!

Again I could see if my posts were saying "Hey go visit board X" but they were not. In this case the censorship was wrong.

I don't know if your upset that the other boards scooped you again, but they did their homework and had some very valuable information that other dbs talk members would have learned from and enjoyed.

They were completely on topic and were informative.

So will someone please tell me? Why all the censorship?

If you guys can't answer then perhaps it's time for you to shut the doors and move on to something else. It is really sad to see the site going down hill so quickly.

Again I (and the rest of the world) expect an answer.

Thank you!

Sam, relax please. Some of us here have day jobs and can't monitor all posts all the time.

Sam Spade2
10-16-03, 06:55 PM
Mark if that were indeed true then my posts would stop being deleted after I post them, if that were true you guys would stop blocking my ip address's after every time I post.

(Hey guys there are thousands of anon proxy's out there blocking ip addresses is going to do you no good) Hell if I wanted to play with you I could just log in through one of my companies AOL accounts, good luck blocking those. But anyway....

Mr.Lamutt please understand I am not picking on you, you have the most class out of anyone on dbs talk. You do a great job with everything, and if I like reality tv shows I would probably be playing in your survivors game.

BTW I notice Chris has not said a word about this entire thing. Have you ever noticed that you never see him online? Why does he hide? What is he affraid of?

Something seriously stinks here and I hope everyone takes notice of whats going on.

Again I could see deleting messages if they were an ad, but these posts we not. No explanation they were just **poof** gone.

Hmm. I didn't know that Chris had to post a daily itinerary for you to approve or disapprove. Why does he have to reply to every one of you posts? Does someone have an ego that must be continually fed?

If you don't like visiting here, then go elsewhere. Perhaps you could spend your time at the other site. I don't know who/what has deleted your posts. Get a life, it's only an Internet forum.

I'll probably get told to go f*** myself.

Sam not to defend this site as I did not see your messages that got deleted, if they did indeed get deleted I do believe you have a right to be upset, although I have seen a few of your old posts and you did seem to egg the guys here on. Which may be one of the reasons they were quick to delete your posts, but you got to learn sometimes it better just to move on.

I do not agree with removing valid posts eaither, but it's not my board to say anything about that, if they want to delete posts because they mention other sites its their perogitive (although its their members loss)

It just messages about SatelliteTV and not the instructions to cure cancer.

I must admit though I am disapointed that none of the staff has answered why they deleted your posts if they were indeed valid, I do think they owe that to their members.

Anyways just let it go, move on again it's only talk about satellite tv.

no posts have been deleted.

Mark Lamutt

Sam, maybe it's the anonymous proxy server that's causing your problems. I honestly don't know. The admin log doesn't show any posts being deleted from you or anyone else in the time period specified. There were satellite radio posts being archived in the last couple of days, but none of them were from you according to the log.

Sam Spade2

Scott, first I respect you a lot but I don't think you should be putting your nose into this. These were my postings and they were deleted.

To Mark and Neil, I believe you are both lying... But instead of me saying that perhaps some of the dbs talk users can verify my information, as there were a lot of people in the voom area the other day. One of my post was there for over 2 hours before it was removed so someone had to see it / and or them.

So did any users see these messages and then notice later that they were gone?

I have no reason to lie, you guys do again your hands were caught in the cookie jar. If a user comes back and says they did see my messages before they were deleted then I think you got a big problem on your hands, and all credibility for this site goes out the window.

And of course Christopher is still hiding. What a wimp.

Mark Lamutt

Whatever. I told you what I found. If you choose not to believe it, then that's your problem, not mine. I'd post the log for your viewing pleasure, but you'd just accuse me of altering it...and here you said just yesterday that I have class...

Will this horse never die?

It's simple -- 3 different forums, take your pick: 1, 2, or all 3.

Funny, posters used to complain that dbsforums had so much infighting among posters (along with censoring and namecalling) that it was time to start a new board. Here we go again. Wonder when the 4th board will start up, and who will create it?

Sam Spade2

Mark, again let the users decide if your lying or not.

People had to see my posts before they were deleted, if they did then the entire sites credibility is down the tubes.

I also remember a post here a few months back saying you don't delete messages instead you move them to a private area, maybe they were not deleted but moved to this private area instead. (In that case your logs would show no messages deleted) And again if this was the case I was still censored.

Again if any users saw my messages before they were deleted or moved speak up.

I did see the messages that Sam is referring to. They were to a thread that showed pictures about the Voom launch. I found it quite interesting personally. I never went beyond that thread at those forums so I'm not sure if the site has a hacking focus, but nothing I saw when reading the thread linked to led me to believe that.

I saw at least 2 or 3 versions of this posted in the same thread, and it was obvious from those that Sam was getting annoyed that the link was always getting deleted. I don't support disrespectful responses and accusations to administrators or moderators as I am a mod at TiVo Community, but there's no denying that Sam made multiple attempts to post a link and they were always deleted.

Thank you Tim. Now at least I know I am not going nuts. :)

No that forum is not a hacking forum. It is run by Scott who use to run this place.

So anyways now that it is verified that my posts were being deleted can someone now please tell me why they were deleted?

Thanks.

OK, something is not right here (and damnit, it's not me lying to the users here Sam, so don't even go there again). I'll dig deeper later on today when I get the time.

Mark, I kn KNOW something is not right herre and that's the point I am trying to make here.

I made valid posts (that were not ads) and they were deleted.

And I know your not lying Mark, I am sorry if my message seemed to imply that, as I said earlier you are the most trust worthy guy on the board.

Remember that this board is just a big database and databases can be edited.

Something smells fishy here in dbs talk land, and am disapointed to see Christopher has not commented on this at all, of course he is probably the only one with the keys to the database which actually scares me now that I think about it as he can read all the private messages if he wants and I have said some things in my private messages on my regular user account that I would rather him not read. (and no I am not saying he did read them)

I look forward to finding out what you find out Mark. Thank you!

I don't have the time or the desire to deal with you. No posts were deleted by anyone but I did find some problems in the database which are fixed now. Remember, we are still running beta software.

I am ultimately responsible for the database and if it screws up, it's mostly my fault so if it will help you go elsewhere to get your kicks, sure, I deleted your posts. Happy?

Now that it's out of the way, why are you here? If you feel so "wronged" you should be some place that doesn't make you feel that way. Okay? Bye.

Sam Spade2
10-17-03, 12:27 PM
Ahh so the real Chris Blunt comes out. (No more of the fake, hi its happy to have you here, I don't know the answer so I will make one up Chris!)

I had a feeling you were a pompus ass all along and this confirms it.

I am sure you did delete my messages as they were the only ons that "disapeared" The odd of 9 messages from 1 user going Bye Bye because of a Database error are about 1,000,000,000 to one.

Now we know who the god damn lier is don't we Christopher?

So glad the truth is finnally out and you shown what kind of crap you are running here.

I found it quite easily.

You are so full of it Sam Spade... Do you think anyone gives a rats ass whether or not your posts were deleted? Why don't you crawl back to your hole... Chris and the rest are running a great place here and don't need the dislikes of you hanging around... I do find it funny however that your writing method is very close to how Scott writes... Hmm... Might as well deal with the fact that dbstalk is here to stay with our without your stupid accusations.

Click on the SEARCH button above and quick search for the poorly spelled word of "eaither"

I find it interesting that TWO particular people on this board spell EITHER this same poor way.

"things that make you go...HMMMMM?!"
