I just had 4 rcvrs installed one being a 501. My question is what happens after the 12month contract is up? Do I own the equipment, can I swap for newer rcvrs? What happens when the super dish is available? My wife is Philipino and I hear that TFC will be available soon and I am only on 110 and 119 sats. Will I have to have 2 dishes? Will they upgrade me to the superdish or will I have to pay.
Thanks
BTW what are the PVR rcvrs that have the 2 tuners in them?
You signed a contract for a year and you don't know the answers to some of your questions? Why don't you call DISH and ask your questions you are a very foolish consumer and I am sure DISH would like to meet and sell your relatives.
boba:
so he didn't check all the possibilities, which are confusing to everyone, except perhaps you. Why insult anyone unless you are just mean spirited.

EASY KILLER. He is the a new poster seeking information. He does not need negative conotations from the likes of you. But, Boba I am sure you you know everything on the contracts...***sarcasim***
Just ease up on orion7144. People are new to the board and people like you who broadside them with negativity will ultimately send them elsewhere.
Orion7144: I apologise for Boba's negativity and lack of interest in helping you. I am sure other individuals on this board would be more than happy to answer your questions.

DHP is a leasing program. That's why you didn't have to buy all the eqmt & pay anything for basic installation. You do not get ownership after 12 months. That is just the minmum requirement to have the system installed for such a low up-front cost. (Since you will receive a $49.99 credit towards your 1st months bill all it cost you was the $50 to upgrade the primary rcvr to the 501.)
If you were to cancel after 12 months you would have to return all the eqmt. E* would chalk up a big loss because it takes 2 1/2 -3 1/2 years before they even begin to show a profit on DHP subs like you. Theoreticallly you could buy the eqmt you've been leasing and save $5/month but it wouldn't make much sense economically.
You will have an opportunity to upgrade to SuperDish if you want intl. or HD programming but it will require an additional 12-month agreement.
The 2-tuner rcvrs will be available to new DHP customers next month. One of them includes a DVR but that model may not be available next month. There will be a $5 VOD fee for people that do get it (who don't get AEP) unlike your 501 which has no addtional fee.
boba wasn't very diplomatic but he is right. Why didn't you check out the terms before you signed up or read the agreement you signed?

I have not signed anything yet and that is why I was asking. All I was asking for was some confirmation and some additional questions on the supper dish and more PVR questions that are not part of the contract and I get slamed.
Well, I hope the info helps. The equipment is not normally installed unless you are present and prepared to sign the agreement.
