Hello Everyone,

New to the forums. Just registered today. Looks like a great place for info.

I have a general question about HD receivers. I currently have a 6000 HD receiver. I have had this for about a month and have had a few problems with the unit. After reading some of the posts, it sounds like most people have the same problems (switching from OTA on the guide, loud fan noise, etc.). E* is willing to take the reciever back for a full refund.

Question:

Should i return the receiver for my $298 refund and purchase the 811 when available, or should I just live with the known problems?

Thanks,
Scott

You can get a $298 refund on a model 6000? Go for it. They normally sell (or sold) for $199 during the big sale.

That is exactly what I paid for the receiver. It has the 8PSK and the 8VSB installed. Since I only had it for ~30 days they are offering me the full price refund.

I agree. You might like the 811 more than the 6000 since it's an updated model.

Thanks for the welcome!

Looks like a well run forum.

I think while I have the oppurtunity to upgrade I may as well take it. Not sure if the 811 is a better receiver then the 6000 or not.

Any thoughts?

Scott

ScottThe 811 is better in that it has more memory for Dish Home Interactive and a 2 day programming guide. It should also be a little faster (but we won't know that for sure until we are able to do a thorough review of the final release version). The 811 will also have an integrated 8PSK and 8VSB tuner.

I had the 6000 for 2 years (I sold it a few months ago) and was pretty much tired of the bugs and how slow it was navigating the menus. The 811 should functionally be better than the 6000.
