Newbie needs help!

I quickly went through some of the threads here and tried to search but wasn't able to come up with any solid answers.

I am trying to get a DIsh for my wife to pick up some of the Arabic channels. Someone has told me that I need a 20" dish. Is this true or will the 18" Dish work just fine?

Also will the SuperDish allow me to get both the English channels and the Arabic channels when it comes out?

SuperDish would likely get you your English and Arabic channels. See if those channels are listed on the 121 satellite at www.dishchannelchart.com . Also See if they are on either 61.5 (for East Coast) or 148 (for West Coast). Check around channel # 650 (Al Jazeera) for the wing satellites and #761 for SuperDish internationals.

If you want the English regulars (CNN, FOX, Discovery, ESPN etc..) You'll want a Dish500 to points towards 110 & 119. To get the internationals you'll need a 2nd dish to hit the wing satellites (61.5 or 148).

Now, if you get a SuperDish you should be able to get all of them with a single Dish, but it won't be available until later in Nov. If your locals have any stations on the wings, then Dish will install that 2nd dish for free. (not sure which area you are located in).

If all you want is the Arabic channels that are currently available, all you need is a 18" dish (any brand) pointed at either 61.5 or 148, depending on your line-of-sight.

They haven't specifically said that they are moving them to to 121 but if they do the 121 vs. of SuperDish will give you the core programming plus any Intls. on 121.

Don't sign up for Arabics (only) today if you plan to get the other programming later because you will not qualify for a promotional price. Of course, if you are already a subscriber go for it.
