Cox Cable FINALLY wired my subdivision for digital cable and broadband internet access. I was the 1st person to sign up yesterday, and the speed is amazing. It's even faster than my T1 connection at work. Downloads that were 2.0kbs a second are now 120kbs a second.
I was up until 1am, and found the end of the internet. No more dial up. WOO HOO!

Nah, didn't get the digital cable...yet. But the new analog signal is sharper than my E*, so I'm probably cancelling Charlie. The delay on the broadband getting to my part of town seemed to be due to a fight with the city and Cox over Cox increasing their rates. So Cox agreed to add several channels to their basic tier. Anyway, I discovered online gaming which is way cool.

Nope, I meant what I wrote. :D
I'm hoping for much faster connections in the 21st Century.

Congrats razor! When I first got my broadband 3 years ago, I remember my wrist getting so sore for the first 2 weeks. I just couldn't click fast enough.
When they first installed broadband in my neighborhood, I was getting about the same speed as you. Over the years, gradual infrastructure improvements have it peaked now at 340kbs for downloads so you have something to look forward to.
Have fun and happy surfing!

I ran an MTU tweak program and now get 200mbps downloads. Connecting at 1044 down. Upload speed I could care less about.
This is SOOOOOOOOOOO cool!

There is a real world speed test you can try here:

How does that compare to 2 MB per second? Charter has 384 KB per second for $30 a month and 2 MB per second for $40 a month. Its obvious that it would be worth $10 more a month to take that much faster internet service. Thats going to be a hard one to compete with for satellite.
