7100 & 501 - Can you play back shows without a satellite connection?

I know I have seen this question posted before but I am not having any luck with the search feature.

I am planning on activating by 2 new DirecTivos tomorrow. My 7100 and 501 still have unwatched shows on them. If I disconnect them from the satellite feed can I still play back my recordings?

I am planning to continue my Dish Network subscription for my 6000 (HD package) only.

Disconnect BEFORE calling dish and turning the service off. DONT RECONNECT to the dish feed at any time untill all the shows have been watched and archived if needed.

Yes, Phil. You should have no problem watching the recorded shows. When you power up, press the PTV button at the acquiring satellite signal screen. That'll bring up your recorded events that you can watch as normal.
