I am currently deciding between Direct TV and Dish Network. Several people in my family watch programs on the WB network, so I need to be able to get that station. According to the Direct TV person I have talked to, I can get the WB. However, based on the multitude of different (and often contradicting) responses I got for some other related Direct TV questions I presented to them, I can't say that I have any confidence in any of their answers.

According to the general advertisements on the Direct TV website, the WB is considered a local channel. I know that local channels are available in my area (Kalamazoo, MI - zip code 49024), however, doing a search under that zip code yields a local channel list that only includes ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, UPN and FOX. No WB.

So, my question is this - Does Direct TV in my area (zip code 49024) actually include the WB network? If not, it looks like I'll have to go with Dish Network, although I would rather not due to their lack of an affordable dual-tuner PVR.

Any and all help appreciated.

According to DirectTv website you would get the following networks
CBS 3
NBC 8
ABC 13
UPN 15
FOX 17
PBS 35
ABC 41
PAX 43

So no WB...Do you have WB network over the air, or is it cable only? If its over the air, there might be a retransmission disagreement with Direct. If its cable only, they wont carry it.

Yes, you do get WB. Believe me, I live in Kalamazoo. :-)

Here's the deal. PAX 43 also carries WB programming. Pax programming in prime time and WB programming at other times. I don't pay attention too much but I think the WB stuff is on from 6-8 or 7-8 most weeknights or on the weekends. So Smallville or Angel would be at 7 on another night instead of it's "normal" timeslot on a true WB network. If you get a DirecTivo (highly recommended) then you won't care when it's on anyway. Season pass for Angel and you are all set.

The only downside is if 43 ever decides to drop WB programming I guess. You'd have to ask them how long their contract is for. But at that point you could always sign up with DISH for superstations only or something.
