Don't buy it this is the worst company i have ever dealt with.
Ive made the mistake of ordering this piece of crap, lousy customer service, the receiver hangs reboot at least 7 times a day
no local channels and nobody knows how to get locals.
it is not worth it, Hope i don't have to sue them to get my money back

Uhhhhh. The only locals you get are OTA with your antenna they installed.

Nice troll though.

Don't they have a money back guarantee until like March or April 2004, something like that?

Did you buy it under the "Free thru Feb 04 or your money back" promotion?

Just come to E*. Better recievers, better service (?), better HD (though I don't get it myself). Boom Voom! :D

As a consumer, let me tell you how rotten VOOM is. I ordered VOOM. I saw you could get extra receivers for $200 each and ordered an extra two receivers. I was told that VOOM wouldn't charge my credit card until the unit was installed. The installer could not obtain a line of sight to the VOOM satellite. I was not able to install VOOM. Now comes the credit card bill from VOOM, the one they said wouldn't be generated until install. Now I'm fighting with VOOM to credit my credit card account. This battle has only waged for about three weeks now. I'm about to call the credit card wolves on VOOM and work with the credit card people to have my VOOM charges removed. I guess this is better than being poked in the eye though!

What do you mean better HD? Better visual quality?

I don't know where yall are coming from. I'm not for sure sold on VOOM yet, but except for the diplexer killing OTA problem (mine works w/o it fine), VOOM has pretty good HD offerings. The Cinema 10 is fair (some good some bad), some of the specialty HDs are interesting at times, but I really like The Movie Channel HD, and Starz HD, Showtime HD, all but TMC in east AND west, Discover HD looks just like Disc. HD on my Dish Network feed, and until/unless I choose to refuse the money back deal, this is all FREE. I can't wait to see InHD (both of them) BravoHD, etc. etc. coming soon (not to mention HBO east and west).
The locking up problem has just about faded away (my last one about a week ago).
Frankly, I'm considering using my local cable for OTA HD (can't get some networks OTA), and VOOM for the rest -- IF they get the news channels on along with USA and a few others said to be coming, too.

BTW - to answer last question - HD: as good as dish, better than Adelphia HD; SD some better some worse ... crisper, less soft than dish, but more pixelization in dark scenes with lots of motion.

Did you use a debit card??? Or did you use a credit card. They told me that there was a hold on the credit card and I've never had a problem. My system runs great and I've never had any problem with my service.

Did you use a debit card or a credit card? I used a credit card and they didn't charge me until my unit was installed. I've had it for two months now and have never had a problem. I love it!!!

Even though the locals don't come through on VOOM, I kept my local cable service as a backup. Like most, I don't mind paying the small charge for it. I think I've heard that soon (sometime in the near future) they will get a lot better. I've heard that they will be much better than most and I certainly enjoy more channels in HD than Dish or Direct. If no one has noticed, the Newsbytes has actual news on it now!!! I'm thrilled and I'm waiting for the much anticipated February 29th launch of HBO and soforth. Thank God!!!

I've always dealt with people at Voom that were always willing to help me. They're much better than anyone else I've dealt with from my local cable company.
