I have Hughes dual tuner Direct Tivo in a secondary location of my my house and have purchased a A/V 2.4Ghz signal sender from Radio Shack to send the recorded signals to my primary TV in the living area approximately 30 feet away and though one wall.

It does send the signal quite well with one exception it seems lose all the yellow color in transmission. The connections are very basic so I am sure they are correctly plugged in. The picture on the TV where the tivo is located is excellent.

I am hoping that somebody may have had an experience with one of these devices and could push me in the right direction. It is absolutely ruining my Tivo experience.

By the way is there any way to turn this DVR off or is meant to be on all the time?

Thanks and Happy Holidays !!!!!!!!

Can't answer the other questions, but...

Well, there is no "off" mode per se for any DVR, just ON and Standby. DVRs are meant to continuously powered in order to receive guide updates and record programming while you are away. With the DirecTiVo, the hard drive is constantly spinning. This is normal. I'm told it isn't even necessary to put the DirecTivo in standby mode.

Also, if you have suggestions turned on, the DirecTiVo will record programming that may be of interest to you. These suggested recordings will not overwrite previously recorded programming, and are the first to be erased when space is needed. Some of the guesses may be off now, but will improve in the future. Just remember... three thumbs down for "Paid Programming".

Do you have a wireless router and/or a 2.4ghz phone? This may be interfering with the signal. I tried using one of these devices, but my wireless network and the 2.4ghz phones would not allow a decent signal. The transmitter and receiver are pretty sensitive, so you may want to try numerous positioning of the antennas. I could never get an acceptable signal, so I hardwired my DirecTivo to the other tv. I am using the remote extender tho. Good Luck.

I don't think the TiVo in my bedroom has been off in a couple years.

Consider yourself lucky, if you had a Dish DVR, you'd have to restart them all time time (or so I've read :sure: )

I have no wireless router and the phone system I have in the house is all 900mghz. I am however running dsl and not sure if that would have anything to do with it.

Like you unless a better solution comes along in the next few days then I will have to hardwire mine also. I could have done that to begin with but thought I would take the easy way out. Sometimes you just never learn.

Thanks to all for the information on the running all the time.

Thanks for the input I got from a few of you. I finally gave up trying to make it work and took it back to Radio Shack and talked to the manager and he showed me one they had set up in his store and it was working perfectly.

He took a new sender and reciever out of a box and traded me units. I took it home and BAM it worked flawless. Now I can watch tv in my living room and control the tivo set up in my bedroom with the tivo remote and get a near perfect picture. Life is good again.....
