I now have a 508 and a 510 installed and am hoping to get a 921 in the future (if the flak settles down, and E* does some homework) My question is this. I have the Dish 500 system, 110 & 119 sats (Legacy) with 2 SW21 switches. With coax going to each reciever. I also didn't trash my outdoor antenna when I purchased Dish, so I have a perfectly good ( and being used ) OTA system. (Radio Shack,VHF/UHF plus booster and rotator) What switches am I going to be buying and can I get the system ready for the 921 now or wait until the unit is purchased? Please help!
Oh, I receive OTA stations from Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota perfectly!
Thanks

You've got the choice of replacing your SW21 switches with a SW44 or SW64 switch and then running 2 more cables from the switch to where the 921 will go, or replacing your legacy lnbs and switches with dishpro lnbs and a DP34 switch, or waiting for the DPP44 switch to come out, picking that up and then only having to run one line from it to your 921 location.

There's been a bunch of discussion about this in the Dish DVR area.

One question that does enter my mind is, Is the DPP44 going to be compatable with the Legacy system I have or am I going to have to replace the lnbs to accomodate that switch? Also, is there a place to view the different switches? I'd like to see what they look like. I will be travelling to the Dish DVR area from time to time to see whats up there. Thanks for the guidance, as it's good to have people who know their way around these forums. I'm just learning ;)

Glad to help. The DPP44 switch will be compatible with legacy receivers, but not with legacy LNBs on the dishes. You'll need to upgrade to dishpro lnbs to use the DPP44 when it comes out.

There are various places around the net that have pictures of the switches - the SW44 and SW64 are the legacy switches and the DP34 is the current dishpro switch.

I have searched the internet and I reached the end. Not really, but to get to a real question. I have gotten some real positive results in my search. One thing that was mentioned in my first thread was that I have a fully functional OTA antenna system, the Radio Shack antenna, booster and rotator, and I want to get the HDTV feeds from the Twin Cities television stations. Can I use the system I already have, which I think I can, or will I have to get something else to hookup to the 921? Does the regular antenna hook directly into the 921? And how does it? Thanks: Lyle

The first page of Mark's review has some close-ups of the 921 back panel, the antenna input is a regular coax F-connector.
