Hi again:
I just talked to my retailer for Dish and asked how the 921 sales are doing. He said that there is not a lot of units available now and to wait for a while and there will be more on the market. nuf said on that subject. Now, I told him I have 2 Legacy lnbs on my Dish 500 and I will be in the market for a 921 when they reach us. My question was do I use the Legacy lnbs or go to the DP lnbs.( I want to power the 510 and the 921 when I get it.) He said to get a DP "Quad" and run coax to the 921 (2) and the 510 (1) from that lnb and NOT use any switches from the Dish. Is this the best route to go? I have been all over the net searching for the best possible solution. I also have a boosted OTA antenna on my roof that I did not get rid of when I got the Dish Network. (Thank my lucky stars) so I can get HD from that also. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Lyle

Not sure how much this applies, but when I got my 721 last year I was left with the choice of upgrading my legacy twin to a legacy quad or a DP quad. The DP was significantly more, and I would have needed costly adapters for legacy receivers if I went that route. I opted for the legacy quad with no hint ever of buyer's remorse. Make sure that the "advice" is not simply a way to line the supplier's pockets. It may not be. Or it could.

My understanding is that either quad is better than using external switches (more reliable, less prone to problems, loose connections, etc.)

I have learned more in the last few days than I ever had since I got my satellite system. Thank you! I have been upgrading my recievers, whenever I could afford it, so now I have 2 DP recievers. I know that the DP equipment is more expensive to move into, but my retail guy said that he would give me trade in options on my legacy lnb's, so it looks like the quad is going to be coming to my roof. I am especially glad I won't have to buy the Superdish to get the HD. (When I finally get our HDTV) :stickman: I will keep you informed as to when I get the 921 and swap the 510 into the 508's position in the family room.
