Does anyone know about this FREE Satelite service that once you buy a 200 receiver all the programming is free...much of it is educational, home shopping
but there are national feeds.

In the process of getting one setup right now.

It all depends on what you want to pick up. Yes, there is a lot of free programming, but alot is ethnic. It all depends on what you want to spend. You can get a fixed dish and aim it at one satellite (G10, T5, etc) and you will get whatever is on there, or you can get a motorized one. It all depends on how much you want to spend. There is a lot of music channels you can get (like Dish's Muzak channels & ExpressVu's music channels)

Here is a website on Free to air and a msg board

You don't have to spend $200 for a receiver, they can be had for less. I have several Ku band FTA antennas, and with my system up to four fixed antennas can be used at one time. The satellite over the U.S. with the most FTA programming is Telstar 5, but nearly all of that is foreign language. A number of U.S. television stations are up there right now on Galaxy 10R, but you never know how long they will be up before they get shifted around or encrypted. It's an interesting hobby, but not a way to get reliable television programming.
