DirecTV has added the low power Azteca station in New York.
It goes by the calls WNYN 39. It was before WXNY 39. More on the station:
Here (http://www.webprowire.com/summaries/324202.html)
Dish Network had lost a case with Azteca (http://www.hispanicbusiness.com/news/newsbyid.asp?id=9909) relating to program exclusivity.
I was anticipating for DirecTV to add this channel after I found this out they could. DirecTV also advertises Telefutura and Azteca available in some markets when advertising for Para Todos.
I hope DirecTV turns on WMBC 63 (Newton NJ) and WNYN 39 to Philadelphia area DirecTV customers. Since we have a TV 39 (WLVT) already, Azteca could be remapped to another number.
WMBC and WNYN 39 have no network, syndicated exclusivity or agreement conflicts with Philadelphia stations, are on the same spotbeam shared by Philadelphia stations, and like WFDC 14 can be delivered to the adjacent market with a simple agreement from the small stations who would want the exposure. WMCN could be dropped. WMCN-DT is an infomercial only station, and being digital only, the FCC wont interfere if DirecTV pulls it. Some of the small things like this could help DirecTV attract more customers.
