Let's say, "hypothetically," that I signed up for the HBO or Starz! package for just a few days through directv.com while home on vacation.

After I'm "done" with the premium package, what's the process of "unsubscribing?" Is it as easy as just logging in, clicking on "change programming package," and un-checking the box next to the HBO or Starz! superpack option, and then I'll just be billed for the amount of time I "used" the package? I don't really want to keep the package for the whole month, as it's "back to work" on Monday, and it'd be a waste of money.

I thought I'd read that somewhere here, but couldn't find the post anywhere...am I stuck w/ the package now for a month, or can I unsub and just pay the pro-rated cost for the time I subbed?

Anyone?

It seems you can subscribe on line but unsubscribing is another story and there is that downgrading fee!!

WRONG!! there is no downgrading fee with Directv...Yes you would be prorated for the time you subbed to the Premium package and yes you can do it thru www.directv.com with no problems and absolutely no downgrade fee. Never has been one with D*.

No hypothetical about it, I've done it several times in the past. So long as you do it all online, DirecTV could care less. You will be prorated for a minimum of 1 day.

And as DC says, there is no downgrading fee and you can upgrade and downgrade your packages as much as you want online. No fuss, no muss! :)

You must have Dish mixed up with D* as far as downgrading fees are concerned.

I agree, I would like to try different other packages with dishnetwork, but that $5 isnt a good thing :) especially since its not really 'downgrading' if you keep the same package like AT150.. Any chance E* will change that policy and not charge people if its something besides downgrading from AT150 or AT100 ? so people will have a better chance of trying channels like HBO/Cin , or showtime or starz, etc, or even Ten and those other adult channels

Thanx for the clarification. I was pretty sure that the sub/unsub online was still the case, but wanted to be sure.

Looks like we're keeping the package for another week, anyway...wifey wants to see Gangs of New York, which is premeiring this Sat. :D
