View Full Version : New Locals in Cleveland, OH?

I came back from vacation today and noticed something very weird on my channel guide. I have the standard single LNB dish that gets locals in the Cleveland, OH market, but does not pick up HDTV feeds. When I came home today, I had a channel listing that had CL3 (where my NBC normally shows up) on channel 3, WKYC (same channel just call letters instead, but no signal) also on channel 3, and WKYC-DT (HDTV feed, no signal) also listed as channel 3. This happened on a couple other locals also.
The real weird thing is that other independent locals are now showing on my channel guide that are not a part of my DTV locals. The channels do not have any signal, but they show the program guide for the channel. Does anyone know if they are adding additional locals channels in some markets?

....DirecTV told me that this might just be a glitch in their system. Is that really possible?

WDLI 17
WAOH-LP 29
WGGN 52
WOAC 67
WMFD 68
I wasn't getting any programming on these channels, but I could get a channel guide with multiple days of programming for these channels. The HTDV feeds showed up as WKYC-001 for example.
For what its worth, when I reset both receivers in my home, the duplicate channels, the HDTV feeds, and the independent channels were gone from my channel lists. DirecTV was probably right that it was a glitch.

I bet it was a glitch - re: wherever D* gets their guide info from.
For the record, in case you don't know what the channels are:
WDLI/17 - Trinity Broadcasting Network O&O, licensed to Canton (religious)
WAOH-LP/29 - Low-power "Cleveland/Akron TV Network", licensed to Akron, simulcasts with W35AX/Cleveland (general entertainment LPTV, owned by the owners of talk radio station WNIR/100.1 in the Akron radio market)
WGGN/52 - Religious station, licensed to Castalia
WOAC/67 - Shop-At-Home O&O, licensed to Canton
WMFD/68 - General entertainment station, licensed to Mansfield
Yes, Castalia and Mansfield are technically in the Cleveland TV market.
No, it's not likely D* is adding these stations. I bet the folks at 29/35 and 68 especially would be thrilled if they did!
