View Full Version : switch 64 shorted?!! is that possible? Please Help!!!!!!!!!
:( I've been trying to set up a sw 64 for a really long time, i've just been told that it could possibly be shorted, is this fixable? How do I know that it is shorted? I still hear it buzzing. my DP is not recognizing the switch all dishes have been pointed correctly. I was hoping someone knows about this.

My first advise would be to call a local retailer with trouble-shooting skills, there Svc. Call rates may vary, but usually worth the cost. If none available, try the following:
1. Check ALL connections to be sure the sheilding wire is not touching the center conductor of the coax.
2. Make sure the coax connected to the ext. power divider is correctly connected to the corresponding port on the switch.
3. If all above are OK, locate the outermost 119 LNB on the dish and locate a coax cable to a specific identifiable receiver location, couple it to the outermost LNB.
4. Run a "Check Switch" on your specified receiver.
5. After 38 tests your Receiver should show reception on 119 odd and even in the left side of the matrix, and x's on the right. That verifies the cable is ok that you are using.
6. Repeat the process on the 110 LNB. If you get odd and even reception on the right side of the matrix on 110, most likely your switch is bad.
But I would take a good look at the connections first.
Hope that helps

Hello:
When you are cascading two sw 64 switches <according to the diagram you need to install 3 "feed through loads". Where can I get these and what do they do?
Thanks
David
