What's on DirecTV transponder #18. (101 sat.)

This is the only transponder I get a full 100 on here in New Jersey, all the rest are 90s and a few are upper 80s.

It's a spot beam apparently it not only serves my Nashville locals but also serves you Jersey locals.

on older irds it'll be channels 961-974, not sure which lower channels it maps to for 5th gen and higher.

There are five transponder 18 spot beams. The one that carries the Washington, DC locals spills over into New Jersey, but does not carry any programming that can legally be subscribed to there.

DirecTV uplinks 38 transponders of programming for spot beam downlinking via 44 discrete spot beams. Markets with a lot of TV stations, like Washington, New York, and Los Angelos, utilize an entire uplink transponder worth of programming. Markets with fewer than a dozen stations share an uplink transponder. I don't know how many Nashville stations DirecTV carries but if it is much fewer than a dozen, then in all likelihood the transponder that uplinks the Nashville stations also uplinks some programming for another market and is mirrored to another spot, with the unavailable programming masked off the programming guides in each market.

looks like Philly, Pittsburg, or DC locals may spill to NJ, but need not worry, you are receiveing nothing from 18 on your subscription except a good signal!

It is the DC locals. That spot-beam reaches into upper New York.
