According to an internal announcement over at Time Warner, they will be launching TNT-HD in May of this year. Makes sense, since they show a lot of movies and basketball.
Of course it may be 2005 by the time Dish adds it, based on their current track record.
I wonderd what they would announce. Broadcasting & Cable said there would be an announcement today.

How are they going to find 25 minutes of HD commercials to show every hour?

We already know from ESPN-HD that HD channels have no qualms about showing SD commercials. I especially like the commercals that are letterboxed on the top and bottom for SD display, and also get black bars on the sides when shown on an HD display. So you get commercials that are shrunk considerably that could be show full-screen on a 16:9 display.

I have not seen one yet that didn't place the 4:3 image letterboxed within the 16:9 display - doubleboxing!! They SHOULD expand these out to 16:9 ... but then many use the black bars for legalize.
TNT-HD? I wonder if TW will force dish to carry it in exchange for keeping the rest of TW's channel rates reasonable? :)

Isn't Dish in current negotiations with the Tuners right now?
