BingoTV was designed as an answer to the problem of audience loss during commercial pods. We’ve created a vehicle that is unzippable and unzappable. One in which products are the program.
Each of our Bingo Games is title sponsored by one key advertiser. Product categories will correspond to day part so that we might play for a year’s supply of premium of coffee in the morning, and for a new car in prime.
In each case, the game revolves around the advertised product. First, the bingo pattern which viewers need to achieve shall be connected with the product. “We’re playing for a new Toyota Camry, and our bingo pattern is the letter ‘T.’” The advertised product will appear on the BingoTV stage. Material amounts of B-roll will be inserted so that every product feature is carefully merchandised. Our hosts will physically demonstrate key features, while spokespeople and advertiser executives are given the opportunity to appear on camera with the BingoTV hosts to discuss the product.

Is this the second coming of "Basil Basset Bingo"? Old C-Band users will know what I am talking about.. I LOVED that channel, very fun stuff. Didn't last long though
Ahhhh! So THAT'S one of the 'exciting surprises' on the next Charlie Chat that has been alluded to by some.
Can't imagine why a bingo channel didn't last long.
I guess there has been a lot of requests for this channel?

I am guessing this is more of a situation where the channel is paying Dish, I am sure this has nothing to do with AT150 increase since this channel will be heading to AT50. Believe it or not, if this channel is like Basset Bingo, it's a pretty entertaining channel.

And this will make 60 channels on AT60 ... plus 11 shopping channels.

So is this channel about a dog or a song about a dog? Or maybe it will be dog
of a channel?!

Man I use to love Basil! I loved that damn music they use to loop in the backround. God I miss those C Band Days! 3BTV was the best. :D
What satellite was that Spacenet 3 ? It was near the center of the arc and a somewhat weak transponder memory says.

Yes I believe it was S3 Tr 11. :)
Oh, so this is what Charlie was talking about on the last chat when he referred to "compelling TV"! :D

Yea that music was addicting, it'd be easy to turn that channel on and just stare at the screen. Almost hypnotic.
It's a damn shame the glory years of C-band are over with, I ditched my C-Band dish in '98 when I switched to E*. It really wasn't something I necessarily wanted to do, but I could see the writing on the wall..

I remember that. Back in the PrimeTime24 days, WRAL (Raleigh) used to air that ad all the time.

Is this the second coming of "Basil Basset Bingo"?I remember it well. I also miss the days of c-band. In 1994, as a one man operation, I did $190,000 in mostly c-band dishes with a few small audio systems thrown in. Nice margins on those c-band and labor sales too. 1995 was like someone left the room and turned off the light on the way out. What I don't miss is doing 10' c/ku installations in the dead of a Minnesota winter. Trying to plant a pole in the ground when you have to first clear the snow and then deal with a frost line that goes to 3' deep is a real challenge. Now, though, when I really miss shoveling snow and get the urge I bundle up real good, grab the trusty old snow shovel, walk to the beach and shovel sand. :D
My God, I decided to read this thread thinking it was a joke!
Subs constantly ask for YES Network, College Sports TV, Goodlife TV, Ovation, Trio, PBS Kids, etc. In response, Charlie gives us Reality TV, Bingo TV, and throws in a few shopping and PPV porno channels. No wonder Soraya Cartwright just quit. :barf:

Perhaps if YES paid Charlie it would be on E*?
BingoTV is ONLY on E* because they are PAYING to be on E*. It's just an ad channel, like 218-229, intended to advertise merchandise. By all rights it SHOULD be on channel 220 ... but it appears they really paid E* well, because they claim to be headed to channel 104!
Want a channel on E*? Get them to pay E*.

I think it will be very short lived. From the official rules at http://www.bingotv.com/bingotvrules.html
BingoTV will begin on February 4, 2004 and end February 5, 2004 (the "Game Period").
The 3BTV thing on C Band was awesome although I never won anything.

Perhaps they will update that each week? I also note that they say "a minimum of three games will be played".
Void in Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and where prohibited by law.

I'm glad they didn't void out the old folks in Florida.

Makes that Yule Log programming look riveting! Except the Yule Log isn't void in New York. :)

Hey folks, every paid shopping channel is another couple of cents a month per subscriber that we don't have to pay for. Yeah, I hate to see the bandwidth wasted too, but it is a necessary evil to keep the prices lower. Thanks to your favorites list you never have to deal with it.
And comparing YES which wants to charge $2 a subscriber vs. a shopping channel that PAYS E* is being a little naive.

You have achieved "BingoTV" when you cover the same pattern as called (i.e., the letter "T" or the letter "X".) Call 1-877-BINGOTV within 120 seconds of achieving BingoTV and you will be awarded a prize upon verification of your eligibility.
Wow! And what happens when you can't get through (busy signals?) in 120 seconds? My guess is some irate "winners"! :nono2:

You sure would not want to have one of the old rotary dial phones:)
The channel is in the process of being uplinked to 110.
EPG info says Play on Wednesdays in the Evening.

Or the Nerf Quiet Ball Championships.
In 5th Grade we would all sit on top of our desks as we threw around a cantaloupe sized soft nerf ball around. If you caught it you were still in the game. If you fell off your desk trying to catch it (or avoid it.... if it didn't touch you and sailed past you you were still in) You dropped it, you're out. You TALK, you're out.
It was an ingenious way to keep us quiet as mice while killing time before lunch or the end of the day. Winner got a homework pass for the night.
