At 4pm on the day of the install they called and claimed they did not have the manpower to perform my superdish install.
This is the 2nd time they are a no show.
the "supervisor" Marylin blamed computer problems.

Join the club, no me but others I hear about. A guy I work with took off today for an install at his house. The 3rd attempt and if this is a "no show" he is going to cancel.

The heck of it is that I am more the capable of performing the darn thing myself.
But because of the way the system is set up these days I can not get my hands on one to do it myself.
Somebody should send Charlie transcripts of these problems. I don't need a Superdish myself, but still feel that his "professional installation only" policy is for the birds.
Complain to ceo@echostar.com you can't go any higher.

When I relocated to Cincinnati from Illinois 4+ years ago, I did "Dishmover" and at that time had hardware sent to me for a self-install. Chimney bracket, coax sealed, etc. all by me. When I did the Dish 500 "upgrade", new (current) policy of "professional" install was in force. Digital Dish on the scene to do it. Dish 500 has worked fine for about two years but recently my 6000 starting giving fits. Frequent MPEG freezes and "acquiring satellite signal" messages all the time. Became quite unwatchable / unuseable on my 6000/8VSB/8PSK Rx. Old model 5000 rock solid in other room. After a replacement 6000 sent from Dish exhibited the exact problems, I took advantage of the $149 811 offer.. to be installed by Digital Dish. Delayed once due to no stock of the 811's. Next appointment 10 days later is kept. I work close enough that I advised my wife to "call me and dont' let the guy out of there until I'm home." Based on some of the other posts in the 811 thread, I was hopeful that the "professional installer" would get out his ladder climb to the chimney top and give the SW21's and LNB's an inspection. The crew consisted of two guys from Springboro, one of whom's duty it was appeared to be to sit on the couch, impersonate a potato and give the unit a "real life test" by exercising his thumb on the remote. The other guy did the 5 minutes of real work. When I asked for a dish / SW21 inspection, I got bureacracy thrown at me. I was told that the 811 install was only alloted 1 unit of labor on the work order and they couldn't do anything other than install the 811 and use my phone and try to take my 6000 with them (they didn't get it). I was advised to call the toll free number on the top of their invoice and schedule a different trouble call (directly with Digital Dish, not going through E*.) The 811 did not act up like the 6000 for them to witness, but that evening you know what happened. The 811 appears to be a 2nd generation 6000 and I suspect the RF front end of the 6000 / 811 is not as robust as my model 5000 Rx. Yes.. I swapped receivers and the problem followed the receiver. The old 5000 was rock solid in both locations but the 6000 and 811 lose it.
I have subsequently rented a 32' ladder from the tool rental place and inspected the Dish hardware myself. The "professional" Dish 500 installation of a couple of years ago had outdoor quality F connectors on them but were not otherwise sealed with Coax Seal or RTV silicone. Upon removing one of the F connectors from an SW21, I was greeted with a cloud of rust / oxidation. The other SW21 didn't have it as bad, but evidence of moisture was obvious. So much for a professional install. Digital Dish is thus the root cause of me swapping my 6000 twice and acquiring an 811, having to rent a ladder, etc.
I have since acquired a DishPro 500 twin LNBF and a DishPro adapter for my 6000 and will rework the chimney top install myself this weekend, eliminating 4 connections exposed to the elements.
