I was playing around with my 921 (it was only 1 hour old) when I grabbed my 508's remote by mistake. Guess what, the remote worked! Not only that but the learned functions on my MX-500 worked as well (cloned from the 508 functions. The only down side is that the remote for the 921 is not being recoginized by the 921.

Did you put in fresh batteries? Do you have the UHF antenna stub attached to the 921? The 921 remote does NOT send IR to the 921 - only UHF, so the stub antenna must be attached for the 921 remote to work. But, as you discovered, the 921 does accept IR commands, and all of the dish IR codes are the same no matter which receiver you have (with the exception of the Dishplayers).

Are the UHF codes supposed to be the same for all receivers? I am just wondering why the 5xx UHF signal does not control the 921. Is it a bug or intentional?

UHF pro is not compatible with the older UHF remotes, from what I understand.

Yeah, I did put in fresh batteries and I do have the antenna stub attached, in fact the original remote (921) does work my TV (I know that's with IR signals). Somehow I knocked off the UHF side of the receiver. At least I'm glad that the IR is working. The same thing happened years ago when I had the dishplayer. I had to input a code into the receiver in order to use the remote again.

Did he change the code set number (In order for you to not have you change the TV in your bedroom when you want to change channels in your den, they have the other sets of codes).
I know that all receivers come with Code Set 1 enabled, but I didn't know if the 5xx remote somehow reconfigured the 921 to a different code set.

Well guys believe it or not, the problem was with the 921 remote. Dish is sending a new one to me.

Well now I have two remotes. The replacement works perfectly but the original remote doesn't send a UHF signal. It will operate everything else via IR. Anyone know how to make it work.
