Can a Dish 500 be used to pick up the 61.5 satellite that has the International channels?? I am only interested in these channels but the dish I have is a dish 500?
Do I need a different dish, if so what type?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The dish 500 you have should be fine. just gotta figure out the new azmuth(sp) angles.

And those can be found in setup (Menu-6-1-1, select 61.5, enter ZIP).
The azimuth will be a few degrees off of what the screen shows (since you will be using one LNB of the two mounted on the dish). My 2nd Dish500 is pointed at 61.5, and about 4-5º to the east of what the on screen aimer numbers. I left the skew on the dish set at zero.
It is doable - in fact that was my first question when I joined this forum last April was how to. It wasn't as hard as I thought!

One of the local channels in my DMA is from the 61.5 satellite and DISH is required to give you a free dish if you request it. I have noticed that many of the local installers are putting up dish 500s for the 61.5 slot (with one LNB). I guess that most of them are out of the dish 300s or don't want to stock two dish types.
I left the skew on the dish set at zero.
You mean 90 for the skew. zero skew would make the dish look real funny

Sorry, I was remembering what I was told - not what I did. :D

you might just need to get a second dish, that way you'd get four orbital locations instead of just two.
